Getting Actively Involved with Co-curricular Activities

Upper Harbour Primary School —

Co-curricular activities are getting underway at UHPS, and it’s fantastic to see so many of our learners eager to get involved! Here’s some information about activities taking place across our school.

Kapa Haka
Kapa Haka has always been a Year 5/6 group at UHPS, and it’s great to see so many of our senior students keen to be involved again this year. This group provides an opportunity for our learners to connect with te ao Māori through waiata and haka, strengthening their confidence and sense of belonging.

Choir
With a large number of students interested in choir, we have started with a Year 5/6 group for now who rehearse on a Tuesday after lunch. We have heard that many of our Year 3/4 learners would also like to experience choir, therefore we will be starting a junior choir in term two. We will share more details with the children soon!

Rūma Āio
For those who prefer a quieter space, Rūma Āio is open at lunchtime in Room 11 for all ages. This is a calm and welcoming spot where students can come to read, draw, or simply enjoy a peaceful break.

Librarians
Our student librarians are getting started in the library, helping to keep it a welcoming and organised space for everyone. They will assist with book returns, shelving, and helping other students find great books to read.

We love seeing our learners find activities that inspire and connect them, and we’re looking forward to a great term ahead!
