Cohort entry is about helping children to settle better into school. There is evidence that starting school alongside other children helps them build relationships and supports a smoother entry to school life.

At Upper Harbour Primary School, 5 year olds start school in groups on predetermined dates. There are two entry entry points per term, ensuring children begin school with their peers.

Starting dates for children beginning in Year 0/1 in 2026 are:

Term 1: Tuesday 3rd February & Monday 9th March

Term 2: Monday 20th April & Monday 2nd June

Term 3: Monday 20th July & Monday 24th August

Term 4: Monday 12th October & Monday 16th November

Starting dates for children beginning in Year 0/1 in 2025 are:

Term 4:

Week 1: Monday 6th October

Week 6: Monday 10th November
