Students from all Houses were involved in a range of House competitions to celebrate Matariki. The competition was headlined by the Art Competition. Head of Art Rachel Clark comments on each entry.

1st place Te Kanawa Love the composition, connection to our UHC wharenui and the fantail representing greater UHC, also love the kumara, and carrot growing on the side with the harakiri. Strongest piece.

2nd place Blake Strong composition with arch of stars framing the head of the wahine toa, each star having its own unique meaning and value. Loved the wahine toa holding the universe in her hands.

3rd place Jackson Sky and whenua, showing nature and spirit of Matariki, spring has sprung, new beginnings.

4th Place Hillary Beautiful individual elements personified the elements of Matariki.

The results of the inaugural UHC 'Matawiki' for Matariki House competition were as follows:

The week was made up of Junior Futsal, Senior Dodgeball and a Matariki-themed chalk drawing competition.

Futsal - Te Kanawa (1), Jackson (2), Hillary (3), Blake (4)

Dodgeball - Hillary (1), Te Kanawa (2), Blake (3), Jackson (4)

Art comp - Te Kanawa (1), Blake (2), Hillary (3), Jackson (4)

It was great to see lots of students get involved over the week as we celebrated Matariki. Thanks to everyone involved. Looking forward to seeing this get even bigger next year.
