College Sport Wellington Nominations

UHC Admin —

UHC Sport Activator Chris Campbell gives a run through of the students nominated for College Sport Wellington sports awards. Congratulations to Lily Candy and Josh Tia who were both finalists.

Awesome effort to the following students who were nominated in their respective categories for the CSW Sports Person of the Year awards. Unfortunately the normal celebration dinner was unable to go ahead this year, however, we would like to recognize and share their outstanding achievements.

Arthur Pilcher, Basketball & Rugby

Arthur was a member of the Hutt Valley U17 basketball side that finished 4th at Nationals. Arthur also made the national tournament team at that tournament. Arthur plays rugby for the 1st XV and was a member of the Wellington Under 18 Maori team.

Lily Candy, BMX

Lily placed 1st at the Hutt Valley Champs and 2nd at the Wellington Regional Championships. On the National stage she was 1st in the Girls National Series Championships. All of these achievements have culminated in her qualifying to compete at the World Champs in France in 2022. Lily was shortlisted as a finalist for her category and unfortunately just missed out.

Josh Tia, Volleyball and Disability Sport

Josh was named in the IPS Volleyball Tournament Team, he is our Senior Boys MVP and our junior boys coach. If he wasn't busy enough, Josh is also a key member of our U65 rugby team. Josh was shortlisted as a finalist for this award and unfortunately just missed out.

Katie Lewis, Football

Katie is the UHC Senior Footballer of the Year and is a member of the Lower Hutt City Women's 1st Team. Katie also gives back to the sport as a referee and as a member of the Capital Football Youth Advisory group.

Keisar Vailalo, Rugby

Keisar was a member and captain of the U18 Wellington Samoan rugby team.

Sierra Tai, Softball

Sierra was in the Hutt Valley U18 team and the Hutt Valley woman's team. Standout performances for these sides have earned her selection in the White Sox side to play in an upcoming Quad Series.

Emily Ingerson, Equestrian

Emily placed 3rd at the Bruce Forbes North Island Teams Event, 6th in the North Island Dressage Nationals and 10th in the country. Emily was selected in the New Zealand virtual dressage team.
