Summer Sporting Success!

UHC Admin —

A great year of sport at UHC has been rounded off by adding another 2 trophies to the now capacity Trophy Cabinet and a New Zealand Cap! UHC's Chris Campbell reports.

Our Junior Cricket side looked to extend their undefeated Term 4 season by dispatching Hutt Valley High School in their division final.

In a game that looked as though it wouldn't go ahead due to the weather our boys prevailed and were crowned Champions!

Cricket is a code that we are trying to grow and with these young boys coming through and some great tutelage from their coaching staff, the future of our summer game is bright.

Futsal is probably the biggest sport at school with a whopping 12 UHC teams competing in the local competition!

For those who are unfamiliar with the game, it is essentially indoor football and our students are pretty good!

Our senior boys team in particular. After accounting for a strong St Pat's Silverstream side in the semi final, the final was a rematch from 2019 against Naenae College.

This match is always close and fiercely contested, 2020 proved to be no different. It took penalties to decide the winner and it was US! The team now looks forward to competing at the Nationals in 2021.

Congratulations to Sierra Tai who played for the Under 15 New Zealand White Sox Softball team at an invitational tournament on the weekend. It is a great achievement to wear the fern and we look forward to seeing what else in store for this New Zealand pitcher! From all of us at UHC, well done!

Bring on 2021!!!!!
