Geographers Rate Rotorua Experience

UHC Admin —

At the start of August, the Year 13 Geography classes took a trip to Rotorua to learn about tourism and how Covid had affected them as part of our senior NCEA course.

We were also able to learn about the history of Rotorua as well as experience some of Rotorua's best attractions such as the Skyline luge. There we were able to take the Gondola up to Skyline, learn about both positive and negative impacts of Covid and then go do some luge rides.

One of the highlights of the trip was Velocity Valley which is another main attraction where many of us did the giant swoop and even a few daring people did a bungee jump. This experience was full of adrenaline and was a fun time for us all. During our time we also went to the Rotorua Heritage farm and the Wai-O-Tapu Geothermal Wonderland where we were all amazed by the colour of the Champagne Pool and getting to watch a geyser in action.

Overall this trip was an awesome experience for all of us students and it was really good to be able to learn about and see the impacts of Covid in person.
