UHC staff donate to Foster Hope

UHC Admin —

This year the staff decided to do something a bit different for our annual Secret Santa fun. Organiser and teacher Ms Sayers explains the donation.

Foster Hope is a volunteer organisation operating across Aotearoa providing backpacks of essential items for children dropped off at a foster home. Often this occurs late at night and children arrive at the foster home with very few of their own belongings.

We joined Foster Hope's Christmas Gift Drive and each staff member purchased a gift suitable for a range of ages from babies to teenagers. The UHC staff generously went above and beyond and a huge number of gifts rolled in over the course of three weeks.

We delivered them to the local contact in Upper Hutt on Monday and they were gratefully received. It wasn't only Foster Hope and the children who benefited from this initiative, we all felt the' warm fuzzies' from giving to this very worthy cause, knowing that tamariki in our own community who find themselves delivered into foster care over the festive period, will have something under the tree just for them.

He aha te mea nui o te ao?
What is the most important thing in the world?
He tangata, he tangata, he tangata
It is the people, it is the people
Mere Kirihimete!
