Geographers investigate local rivers

UHC Admin —

Year 13 Geographers have been out looking at local rivers and learning about river processes. Teacher Cory Broad explains what they did.

Our wonderful Year 13 Geographers have recently been learning about river processes.

For their assessment, they were required to attend a field trip to the Hutt River, where they took measurements of the river and looked for variations, in order to help them write up their reports.

Fortunately for us, the weather was fantastic during the trip, despite a lot rain in the lead up.

The sites visited were at Kaitoke Regional Park, the Whakatiki River confluence (below Riverstone Terraces), and next to the Ewen Bridge in Lower Hutt.

The attached pictures show our wonderful students doing their research at the various sites. A huge thanks to Sam Twomey for coming along and supporting us on our trip.
