Kayaks Fly at Days Bay

UHC Admin —

At the start of March, students in the 9ADV class went to Days Bay to experience kayaking, paddle boarding and swimming. With a variety of weather on the day, including extreme wind, the day was one to remember. Students Erin Grant & Eleanor Fisher tell us about the day.

On the 4th of March, 9ADV went to Days Bay and had the opportunity to experience some really formidable water based activities (kayaking, paddle boarding and swimming).

The weather was a little cloudy in the morning but by the afternoon it turned out to be quite a nice sunny day. Unfortunately, later in the day the wind picked up a little bit, causing kayaks and paddle boards to fly away.

Despite the bad weather we still managed to have a great day and enjoy all the activities we did. The day involved free time which concluded in people burying each other in the sand - in particular, Buddy.

The ADV course involves learning the safety rules for a range of tasks and practicing how to stay safe in the water. Every group made a short video on the water safety code which includes: be prepared, be aware of the dangers, watch out for yourself and others, and know your limits.

All in all everyone had such a fun time and learnt a lot from that day.
