Congratulations KATIE LEWIS, who has been selected to take part in a two-week sports leadership programme to be held in Princeton, New Jersey in the USA, in July!

Katie’s selection was announced by an official from the US Embassy recently at a surprise school assembly, which was also attended by representatives from Capital Football Federation, the Phoenix Football Club, and Katie’s parents.

Katie, who is Captain of the UHC 1st XI Girls’ Football team, and four other young women from NZ, Cook Islands and Niue will join others from around the world at the programme. Fully funded by the US Government, the programme aims to empower young women and girls through sport and recreation. Katie will play football, meet with community organisations and leaders, have sessions on team-building and public speaking, as well as attend various cultural and sporting events.
