Third place at the NIWA Science Fair for Aryanna & Olivia

UHC Admin —

Selected students from 10AG and 9SN went to the NIWA Wellington Regional Science Fair in August to present their projects. Teacher Kirsten Eichler tells us about the successful time for UHC students.

Those selected were judged against their peers first, then once entered had to ensure they completed both a digital submission including a video and a board to take along in person.

Two of the four groups that went to the Science Fair this year received prizes. A lot of hard work went into their projects, and the students were thrilled to be going to the Prizegiving to get their prizes.  Projects included 'What type of packing keeps lettuce fresh in the fridge longest', 'Which type of liquid soap is the most effective', 'Numbing properties of Kawakawa balm', and 'Falling Asleep' (looking into techniques to help fall asleep faster).

This year's Science Fair was held at Victoria University's Pipitea Campus.

Aryanna Billington & Olivia Trevean got third in class 4 (Year 10) with a cash prize of $150.  Olivia Lingard & Thea Martin got the Te Kawa a Maui at Te Herenga Waka prize of a $100 gift voucher.
