Historians visit Holocaust Centre
The Year 12 History class visited the Holocaust Centre of New Zealand in Te Aro, Wellington City to further their knowledge for an assessment. Teacher Julie Sayers runs through the thought-provoking trip.
We have been learning about the history of antisemitism and the Holocaust in class and went to the Centre to learn more about the significance of this event to Aotearoa.
We learned about the different stages of persecution carried out by Nazi Germany and took part in a number of activities including analysing Nazi propaganda.
The educator shared his knowledge of the Holocaust as well as stories from his own family and experience which we found really interesting.
We also got to visit the Synagogue and learn about Judaism.
Now we are back in class and writing a report on the significance of Kristallnacht and the Holocaust, its impact on people, and the different ways it is remembered today.
