Year 11 student Fabian Sivorarath has been taking on the challenges of learning to glide solo over the summer and is now qualified to fly alone.

Last year he was awarded a gliding scholarship through the Wellington Gliding Club, based in Greytown which he completed in January 2020. 

He enjoyed gliding so much that he continued on with the training syllabus to go solo, and in early January 2021 he successfully completed the ‘to solo’ syllabus and was signed off as a glider pilot, and completed his first solo flight.

This was a massive achievement for Fabian. It required a significant amount of theory and practical training hours to achieve. 

We are all really proud of Fabian and will follow his gliding career with interest.
