Hillary House Art Competition Champions

UHC Admin —

Taking inspiration from Siapo/ Tapa design, Hillary House have won this year's Art Competition with a stunning piece of work.

The annual competition, which has a different challenge every year, puts students in pressure situations - having to design and complete their piece of work as a team in 40 minutes.

This year all houses used Siapo | Tapa design aesthetic to inspire teams to create a finished artwork.

There were four teams made up of 6 students, both junior and senior as well as Art students and non Art students. The submitted work was a result the best A3 cultural design made up of their 6 individual artworks. Head of Art Rachel Clarke says "students put in an outstanding effort, completing really complex and resolved designs in such a short time frame is not easy".

Ms Clarke was very impressed with the level of work saying that "all of the results were stunning and a real challenge to judge their places".

Congratulations for the following teams:

1st place: HILLARY | Can you see the 'H' cleverly embedded in their design?

2nd place BLAKE | The heart shape also a clever design decision

3rd place: TE KANAWA | Strong, bold cultural designs are stunning!

4th place: JACKSON | Subtle infinity symbol embedded in their design, great team effort
