Ms Higgins and three budding Year 11 Geographers (Isabelle Radcliffe, Olivia Trevean and Katie Travis) have finished third at the annual Maatangi Whenua Geography Quiz at Victoria University.

The Quiz is for Year 11 students to battle against other schools in the region and this year there were 13 teams. 

Their geographic knowledge and skills were put to the test with tasks such as mapping, guessing the country from emojis, trivia, a ponderous puzzle and even a playdoh activity. 

The three students had no idea what to expect and their confidence wasn’t terribly high when they saw they were up against teams from St Orans, Wellington East, Taita, Onslow and HVHS. But they smashed it and got a very respectable 3rd placing.
