Numeracy Common Assessment Activity for NCEA

UHC Admin —

Many of our students in Years 10, 11, and 12 are working towards the Term Two Numeracy Common Assessment Activity (CAA) which will be held on Thursday 23rd May (Week Four).

Their classroom teacher will be helping them prepare and provide feedback on previous Numeracy questions.

An email will be sent to all students (and their whānau) who are entered into the Numeracy CAA in Term Two. Alternatively please check with your child and/or their Mathematics teacher.

Note, most Year 10s who are not entered into this assessment will be entered into the second sitting in September.  Emails will be sent in regards to this.

On the website, you will find

  • Student self-assessment material

  • Learning videos

  • Practice material

  • Information about the different styles of questions

  • Links to the online digital tests

  • All previous NZQA Numeracy CAA tests, with answer

Numeracy Drop In

For the first three weeks of Term Two, we are running Numeracy drop-in sessions.

This will be held in D6 on Thursday lunchtime with Ms Morton and Mrs Lambrechts.

Bring your lunch and your questions.

What is the Numeracy CAA?

From 2024 the Numeracy CAA is a required co-requisite for any level of NCEA and University Entrance.

It is a digital assessment set by NZQA, completed online, and runs across New Zealand in the same week. There are about thirty questions with a range of multiple choice, short answer, and long answer questions. Students normally take about an hour to complete this assessment online. Students are allowed a calculator and encouraged to use pen and paper to work through their answers.
