Aryanna Aces It

UHC Admin —

Year 9 major prize winners were honoured at their prizegiving in the school hall. With Covid restrictions in place the event was different to previous years with fewer students and no parents.

However, the formal occasion still managed to make sure those that received awards were sufficiently honoured for their mahi over the year.

The major prize of the morning was The Sir Edmund Hillary Cup, which was awarded to Aryanna Billington.

The prize is given to the Year 9 student for their classroom achievement and their commitment to the core values of Upper Hutt College.

Aryanna has been a role model in and out of the classroom, striving for excellence in everything she has done. She has given back to her community and been sincere in everything she does.

Aryanna has volunteered to help with numerous committees and events from the Environmental Committee, participated in House Events and supported Culture Week. She has taken on both leadership and service roles in their Ako class and has been instrumental in 9AG’s manaakitanga project.

Aryanna gave service on Year 8 Open Day, Open Evening, and was also joined an ambassador at our contributing intermediate schools to share with them why UHC is the place to be. She has also been a debater and plays the drums and piano.

House Cups for all round excellence went to:

  • Te Kanawa House - Olivia Whitmarsh
  • Jackson House - Isabelle Radcliffe
  • Hillary House Cup - Ella Haenga
  • Blake House Cup - Hannah-Elise Soper
