UHC's Awhina students headed to the first Special Olympics College Sports event of the year and excelled!

Not only was it the first event of the year, but it was the first time they have held a netball tournament and what a wonderful tournament it was.

We had the help of ex-Silver Ferns as our coaches. They ran around the court with our students, helped every student regardless of what position they played and made all the students feel very skilled.

Our three Year 9's who joined us for the first time were full of excitement and energy. They each found their inner netball talent.

We discovered that some of our senior students are very good goal shooters.

The Awhina students played well throughout the entire tournament. They won three out of the four games. The only game they lost was the final and that was by one point.
