Geographers flow into Hutt River sites
UHC's Geography 301 class investigated sites along the Hutt River to gather data for their upcoming assessment and exam at the end of the year. Student Cory Hay runs through the rapid day.
Accompanied by Ms Elliott and Ms Higgins, we quickly set about gathering relevant information at each site.
Data that we collected included invertebrate types, vegetation, water clarity and velocity. While on the trip we visited four separate sites, Kaitoke, Birchville, Fraser Park and the Petone River Mouth.
At around 1:30pm the bus made a stop at Queensgate, we stopped here for half an hour so we could have lunch, sushi was the definite favourite for the class.
After making our stop for lunch we carried on to the Petone river mouth, this was our last site for the day. We even found crabs in the rocks.
We want to thank Ms Elliott, Ms Higgins and Wayne (the bus driver) for making this trip possible.
