Noah stars in Hui Hoppers
One of our 2023 Year 9 leaders is a star in and out of school. Noah Te Ariki is currently a lead role in a TVNZ On Demand series 'Hui Hoppers', out now.
This is his second acting role this year, working with Ainsley Gardner, NZ producer / director of 'Boy' & 'Cousins' along with Maruia Jensen, Director of 'Muru'.
Noah plays 'Toa', the son of 'Kura' who has returned home to New Zealand from Australia.
Noah worked filming long hours over a two-week rushed timeframe, only a few weeks prior he had filmed 'Not Even' a short series available on Neon (Episode 5).
Hui Hoppers, is a bilingual comedy series filmed on location at Hongoeka Marae in Plimmerton. It was written by producer Anahera Parata, and developed for the rangatahi of Ngāti Toa who may not ordinarily be exposed to the media industry or afforded these opportunities.
'Hui Hoppers' created career pathways honouring what tuakana / teina really means, not just on paper, but in reality. This is a comedy show that speaks to and for te āo Māori and, while small scale in comparison to Anahera’s usual work, this project with and for the people was incredibly fulfilling for all the cast and crew involved. Check it out.
We are so proud of Noah and will watch his career with interest.
