Senior Prizegiving Goes Live To Global Audience

UHC Admin —

In a break from tradition, due to Covid19 restrictions, Upper Hutt College held the annual Senior Prizegiving in the school hall streaming it live on YouTube.

With a capacity limit of 100 people in the hall, whanau, families, supporters and other students were able to view the proceedings online where students from Year 11 - 13 were recognised and honoured for their achievements.

Congratulations to all those who received awards including Hupdric Eng, who was named Dux for 2021 and Leo Xue who was Proxime Accessit.

During the ceremony Principal Judith Taylor highlighted the resilience of the seniors to cope with the challenges of online learning but still enjoy academic success.  Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Garth Johnson, also thanked staff and the community for their support of the school.

Head students Dhanraj Soni and Shakira Khan entertained the audience with anecdotes about the cohort and memorable moments.  Dhanraj and Shakira also had the honour of presenting badges and leis to the 2022 Head Girl and Head Boy - Sasha McNeil and Ammon Betham.

Students who were not part of the 100, and who had awards, were awarded these on the final day of regular classes by Heads of Year and Deans.  Please see the article with pictures of classes and their awards.
