Footballers have the royal touch

UHC Admin —

UHC footballers were given the unique opportunity to train with Wellington Phoenix Women players at the world class NZCIS facility in Trentham, and in front of Swedish royalty! 1st XI captain Katie Lewis describes the great opportunity.

The day started with a light warm up followed by small sided games as well as the opportunity to use the interactive screen to take shots on goal.

A number of the Wellington Phoenix women's first team players were there with the beloved mascot Nixie, all getting involved interacting with us.

The highlight would have to be seeing Her Royal Highness, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, who was taking a tour of the complex at the time in preparation for the 2023 women's FIFA World Cup.

The World Cup is being co-hosted in New Zealand and Australia this July. His Royal Highness Prince Daniel was also there talking to a few of the girls following his conversation up with some well placed shots on goal, showing us all how it's done.

All of the girls had a great time and loved the experience. We would like to thank the Wellington Phoenix and Capital Football for inviting us along and running the event, this will surely be something the girls will never forget.
