Eden's writing wows judges in Katherine Mansfield Short Story Award

Peter Blank —

13IH's Eden Ingerson has finished runner up in the Katherine Mansfield Short Story Award, with entries invited from Year 12 and 13 students in the Wellington area.

On Thursday 26 September, ten finalists and their guests, including teachers, attended an awards event at the National Library. This year's judge was award-winning writer Brannavan Gnanalingam, who was impressed by the talent displayed by the shortlisted stories, saying “Writing is something you get better at with more practice, so I’m actually quite jealous of the talent and skill these writers show at such a young age.”

Eden's story titled Unuhanga Taniwha was announced as Runner-up, with the judge saying there was only a small margin between 1st and 2nd place.
