Metlink message to public transport users
Please carefully read the information below from Metlink about risky behaviour and fare increases.
Behaviour
Metlink have had some reports that students from various schools are crossing the Silverstream level crossing when the barrier arm is down and closed to pedestrians and other vehicles.
At the moment there are some speed restrictions and trains are travelling slower than usual along this section of track. It is still incredibly dangerous for anyone to try and cross when the barrier arm is down whatever speed the train is travelling at.
** Please be careful when crossing here and only to cross when the barrier arm is raised and pedestrian and other vehicles access is open. **
Metlink fare update
From 1st April, standard public transport fares increase by 6% and a 50% off peak discount will apply to Snapper Fares, up from 25%, including concessions (child, tertiary and accessible).
This means that anyone using a concession on their Snapper card gets the 50% off-peak discount on their concession fare.
To ensure that students receive this discount, they must have the child concession loaded onto their Snapper card.
If students are wanting to apply or check their concession, they can do this online at the Snapper Website.
For a full breakdown of all fare changes and the new prices from 1st April, visit the Metlink Website or call 0800 801 700.
