9DD students hosted a class from Trentham School to share some of their work. Teacher Kath Barr runs through the story time.

One of the highlights for 9DD this year has been their Literacy Unit where they studied children’s books - the old classics of Doctor Seuss, Margaret Mahy, Joy Cowley and children’s non fiction texts. 

Students then wrote their own books, like The Lost Cat and Facts about Capybaras and a class favourite Chicken Man about a superhero who shoots chicken drumsticks out of his wrists and feeds the homeless.

Trentham School came to visit on 18 October for kai and storytime. Below you can see photos of students reading their own books to Trentham School students.

9DD has had a busy year across the board. They have excelled in their specialised programmes in all of their core subjects.
