Year 10 Ako Time

UHC Admin —

Our Year 10 students have had interesting longer Ako Times recently.

One session was spent making Lock Down Thank You cards, with students selecting someone – a member of the family/whanau, teacher, friend, neighbour or member of the community – and thanking them for their help during lockdown. It was a great way of showing one of our school values – manaakitanga.

More recently, the theme was Food and Fun, where food was used as a way to show how we are a mixed bunch, ethnicities, likes, dislikes, gender, loud, quiet… Students looked at how different families have different foods and customs around food, and they finished up with sharing the (NZ) childhood party favourite of fairybread – eating together reminds us that our togetherness is as important as our diversity.
