Tough Gals Overcome Gruelling Conditions

UHC Admin —

Every year, UHC takes a growing group of girls to the Tough Gal challenge in Wainuiomata to test themselves on the cold, muddy, challenging course. UHC's Sport Activator Chris Campbell tells us about the day.

We started the UHC Tough Gal group four years ago with 15 girls and this year we had 30 take on the gruelling six kilometre mud run over all sorts of obstacles, it even had electric shocks and eel infested swamps!

Over the years we have noticed a huge change in the girls who complete the challenge, they are so confident and are motivated to give other sports a go! The feedback from the girls post the event has been excellent. Here is what they have had to say;

“Tough Gal was one of the best experiences I’ve had at college. I enjoyed the environment at the event and the overall experience. I enjoyed the challenge and the new bond I have with my friends who did it as well.”

“I loved Tough Gal heaps, it really challenged me and left me feeling really good and proud of myself afterwards. It really taught me a lot about resilience and the mindset to just keep going”

Lastly a huge thanks to Colleen and the team at Hutt Gas and Plumbing for sponsoring the event, it was very much appreciated!!!!
