Robin selected to be part of the AFS Global STEM Changemakers Scholarship
13IH's Robin Meijer has taken part in the award-winning online programme that is aimed at developing innovation and entrepreneurial skills in young people in order to support them to make change in their communities.
Over the course of 12 weeks, Robin completed learning modules, met in smaller groups on Zoom each week, conducted interviews, developed her understanding of global challenges like the climate emergency, and capped it all off by creating a prototype of a solution for a problem she had identified in her community. These problems included:
Food waste and lack of access to affordable food.
Lack of climate and natural disaster education and empowerment.
Lack of career planning and financial support for young people wanting to go into jobs that make a difference.
Robin earned the Advanced Certificate on Global Competence for Social Impact, from AFS and the University of Pennsylvania Center for Social Impact Strategy.
