Message from the Principal

Judith Taylor - Principal UHC —

Kia Ora to all our international agents and families. We are now sitting at the end of term 2, and it is over a year since New Zealand experienced its Level 4 lockdown. There is a real sense of purposeful activity around the school as we settle into the rhythm of this winter term.

Winter sport is well underway with record numbers of students involved in badminton (7 teams), basketball (11 boys and girls teams), football (7 boys and girls teams), futsal (Awhina team) and netball (7 teams). We have 3 rugby teams, and it’s great to see supporters cheering on the sidelines of these games. A large number of girls competed in the local “tough gal” challenge and over 60 students have been out hiking in Outdoor Education experiences in the local mountains.

Our Multicultural Group, and our Dance students have been busy preparing and rehearsing and performing in events. Showquest, held at the Michael Fowler Centre in Wellington, featured both groups and the Multicultural Group will take the stage at HuttFest on the last day of term. Our Drama students have production for 4 nights at the end of term as well.

With a busy school calendar for the rest of the year, we have much to look forward to!

Judith Taylor
