Muddy day at the office

UHC Admin —

Tough Gal, the annual test of muddy endurance, took place recently with more than 50 UHC girls taking on the course. Year 10 student Meagan Stokes was one of them. This is what she experienced.

The Tough Gal event was a very exciting day for the many female students of Upper Hutt College who attended the tough girl event. It was really good to see so many girls who wanted to get involved and who weren't afraid to get a little muddy.

Most of us started off pretty nervous but once we were on the bus singing, laughing and having an all-round good time we put our numbers on and were ready to get out there and start the race.

It was nice to see that you didn't have to do the race competitively because that meant that everyone was just out there having some fun and it didn't matter how fast you got through the course. But if you wanted to smash all the other schools and sprint the whole 6km course, then you could just get out there and do that while still having fun. That's what the whole day was about, getting involved and having a good time.

Some of the obstacles were easy and they may have even given us a chance to stop and throw some mud at our mates while others were a little bit harder but we all pushed through and completed the course.

You could tell all the girls really enjoyed themselves by the big smiles on all of their faces as they had crossed the finish line. And of course the only way to end the day properly was with some more singing on the ride back to school.
