UHC Artists drawn to Massey University

UHC Admin —

Our 301 Art students (made up of Painters, Printmakers, Photographers, Designers and our two art teachers) had the opportunity to visit Massey University Centre of Creative Arts. HOD of Visual Arts, Shannon-Mae Read, paints the picture for us.

UHC students were able to view the NZQA Top Art Exhibition which included the top 2022 NCEA Level 3 Art folio boards from all art specialties.

Our students had a presentation from current CoCA students on what it’s like to be a university student in the Arts and the different pathways and opportunities that Massey University offers future students. We were also lucky enough to run into an ex-Upper Hutt College student who is currently studying there.

Students ended the trip with a tour of the campus, which included workrooms, lecture theatres, and art studio spaces.

The trip was such a success that students were buzzing with excitement on what the future might hold after Year 13. They now have the confidence this year to aim high and drive their art practice to the best of their abilities.
