Accolades Galore At The Academic Assembly
Those students who gained a NCEA Merit or Excellence Endorsement last year who were in Year 11 or 12 were honoured at the annual Academic Assembly.
There were approximately 104 students who gained awards, which were presented by members of the school Senior Leadership Team and senior Deans. At NCEA Level 2, 21 students gained Excellence Endorsement, and 26 Merit Endorsement. Meanwhile at NCEA Level 1, 21 students gained Excellence Endorsement and 36 Merit Endorsement.
Former 2011 Head Girl Dayna Taramai spoke to students emphasising the importance of people around them. Her journey has been an eventful one, taking her well away from home to overseas destinations such as Canada but has brought her home to Upper Hutt for now.
Principal Judith Taylor spoke to the full school and parents gathered about the outstanding results that UHC has achieved last year.
- 85% gained NCEA Level 1
- 91% gained NCEA Level 2
- 74% gained NCEA Level 3
Compared with other co-ed schools – UHC is well above the national average pass rates for all NCEA Levels.
In the Wellington region, UHC is in the top 3 co-ed schools, and locally, only HIBS had better results.
