Awhina students thrive in sports competitions

UHC Admin —

Students from the UHC Awhina class had an amazing day at the Interschool athletics as well as the rippa rugby competition. Teacher Ali Taylor gives us the run down.

Everyone brought their A-game and brilliant attitude to Newtown Park. We ran the 50 metres and 100 metre sprints and threw three vortexes, scoring some great throws on the third attempt. Mav ran the 200 metres as well.

Sunshine and catching up again with friends from other schools made it fun too. We cheered everyone on and held their gear while they ran.

Tino, Mav, Otaumaha and Damien all won at least one event. Others came second or third.

Some of us were inspired to try shotput, 200 or 400 metres next year. It was awesome to see all the students giving their best and having fun with each other and the students from other schools, even making new friends they met for the first time today.

Rippa rugby

Meanwhile Awhina students also went to Titahi Bay to play rippa rugby on Tuesday 4th April. The sun shone beautifully. We won a game and lost a game. It was a lot of fun. We were very tired afterwards.
