Dementia Wellington Grateful For UHC Volunteers

UHC Admin —

Over the holidays, UHC students involved in the Duke of Edinburgh Award programme rolled up their sleeves and put in some mahi to help Dementia Wellington. Teacher Philip Carew shares the experience.

The College was contacted by Dementia Wellington asking if there were any students who would be willing to help them with administrative tasks during the recent school holidays.

Five students from the Duke of Edinburgh programme, Lily, Emily, Seth, Garrett, and Angus volunteered to assist and were picked up at school and taken to the Societies offices

They stamped and addressed envelopes, picked up rubbish, dismantled old furniture, removed labels from previous year's public collection materials, labelled folders and helped clear the loft.

Dementia Wellington were very grateful for the work done as it freed up staff time. They were really impressed with the willingness and positive attitude of the UHC students.
