Kia ora te whanau. At the end of Term 3, we held our Sports & Cultural Prizegiving, the first of 4 separate celebrations of our students’ achievements that we hold at the end of each year.

We ended Term 3 with a celebration of sporting, cultural and service achievements of our senior students. Over 170 students were recognised and many friends and whanau joined us via Livestream courtesy of Four Seasons.

Year 12 students embarked on Wellington's TSB Arena where dozens of potential employers and educators told them about the many opportunities that await them.

With the winter season now at an end, there is much to celebrate across the many teams who represented UHC. In what has been a difficult year for all, it was great to get a full season of sport completed for our students, although it looked a little different. Congratulations to everyone who represented the college this season for their attitude, dedication and effort. Here are some of the highlights from the teams who played in finals.

Due to COVID-19 and uncertainty about big groups being together the annual Upper Hutt Cultural Festival was re-designed for 2020.

Taking inspiration from Siapo/ Tapa design, Hillary House have won this year's Art Competition with a stunning piece of work.

Year 10 student Lily Candy has received an outstanding nominee certificate for the national Girl Boss Awards, while fellow UHC student Emily Barr was also nominated.

Taking their secondary school education from Upper Hutt College to the next level, 37 former UHC pupils have graduated from Victoria University between June 2019 and May 2020.

Year 10 student Lily Candy has held off two other candidates to gain the position of Student Representative on the Board of Trustees.

The Capital Dental Mobile Clinic is set to visit Upper Hutt College and will provide free basic dental care to students under 18 years of age.

Intending to take on some of the challenging rock climbing challenges at Titahi Bay, the two Adventure 201 classes were forced inside by horrible weather but all was not lost.

As the winter sports season comes to an end, nine UHC students have reached a remarkable feat - representing the school in over 50 first team appearances.

Year 10 student Grace Seamark has helped her whole cohort, recording a speech about what to include in speeches, and gaining valuable Level 1 NCEA credits in the process.

As part of the Year 9 Adventure programme, students went to the Hang Dog Climbing Centre in Lower Hutt.
