Holy Day of Obligation, 15 August 2023
Feast of the Assumption of Mary.
This Tuesday, 15th of August, we celebrate the Feast of the Assumption. The Feast of the Assumption of Mary is one of the few Holy Days of Obligation in New Zealand, where the Catholic church requires all Catholics to attend Mass throughout the day.
Unfortunately we will not have a Mass at school this year, but we ask families to take this opportunity to attend Mass together at their local parish. This is a beautiful feast to celebrate as a family, and fulfil our obligation together! We look forward to seeing some familiar faces in our local parishes on Tuesday.
Please find below (and above) a list of local parish Mass times which we invite you to attend. If you can’t find your local parish on here, please give them a call!
We join in celebrating with all Catholics around the country, as we ask for the intercession of Our Lady. She is the Patron Saint of Aotearoa, and so we pray especially for our country and our church.
Our Lady of the Assumption, Pray for us!
