Police Officers drop by Villa Maria College
Students in Years 11-13 were given the opportunity to engage with two experienced Police Officers Bryan and Isaac who currently work with the community.
The girls heard how these officers were recruited into the force, with Isaac going in at age 21, and Bryan going in at age 31. Issac told the students if he had his time again he probably would have waited a couple more years as he believed life experience is very important in his role. Both officers highlighted that soft skills are crucial in their careers because they engage with people of all ages and walks of life. The students got the opportunity to ask questions about what a typical day was like, what they liked about being in the police force, the pay and how to become a detective. We were very lucky to have these two officers come to the college because they don’t usually visit schools.
