Skills

Social Studies is about how societies work and how people can participate as critical, active, informed, and responsible citizens.

Contexts are drawn from the past, present, and future and from places within and beyond New Zealand.

Students develop a knowledge and understanding of the diverse and dynamic nature of society and how interactions occur among cultures, societies, and environments.

Students develop and apply skills as they investigate society, explore issues, make decisions, and work cooperatively.

Students are also encouraged to identify and participate in social action.
