This module is designed to develop students’ financial literacy skills as well as give them a broad understanding of economic issues.

  • Income / taxation

  • Decision making

  • Budgeting

  • Impulse buying

  • Saving / Kiwisaver

  • Borrowing, credit and interest.

Skills

This module is designed to develop students’ financial literacy skills as well as give them a broad understanding of economic issues. 

The course introduces students to topics and skills which they can use throughout their lives in a fun and hands on way. 

They are “paid” to attend class and are given opportunities to increase their earnings during the course, while being subjected to a tax regime also. 

At the completion of the course they are able to spend their earnings at an auction.
