The MacDiarmid Institute is one of ten New Zealand Centres of Research Excellence, working at the very cutting edge of science.

As part of their commitment to growing tomorrow’s elite scientists, the institute runs two residential programmes annually in January for Year 12 and 13 students with a strong interest in science.

Places on these programmes are highly contested; as part of the application process, students must nominate a teacher as referee.
