VMC is buzzing from Brain Bee success!

Emily Ng, Year 11 —

After studying and completing assessments at school, we found out that we all achieved highly and were invited to participate in the South Island Brain Bee competition, in Dunedin.

Whilst in Dunedin we participated in many other amazing activities as well as the competition. We were accommodated for in the Otago Museum for an overnight stay, where we made many friends from other schools.

We saw amazing exhibits, such as the butterfly garden and the planetarium. Visiting the health sciences area of Otago University was an exciting experience too, where we heard talks from PhD students and had the opportunity to dissect a brain.

During the competition, we enjoyed working together and each contributed to our final placing of 3rd. We are very happy with this outcome, because we feel the connections, and all we have learnt during the trip, were more than worth it. This competition was an immersive and memorable experience.
