Kia ora I’m Jo Wilkinson an experienced teacher from Taranaki.
I have taught at all levels over the past twenty years and I am currently teaching in a small rural full primary. I enjoy teaching STEM, art and being part of Enviro Schools.
I live in New Plymouth with my family and in my spare time I’m kept busy taking my children to their numerous after school activities, also I enjoy taking my two dogs out for a walk, especially to the beach.
My 9 year old son was born deaf and since his diagnosis I have been using NZSL with him. When he was 3 ½ years old he received his first cochlear implant, since then he has had access to sound. I have enjoyed incorporating sign language into my lessons and have found my students have thoroughly enjoyed using sign language in their lessons.
My new love is adventure racing which involves orienteering, mountain biking, kayaking, SUP boarding and rafting. It is a great way to hang out with my friends, learn new skills and get out and see our beautiful country.
