Understanding SOUTH KOREA with words, giggles and song

Geoff Wood —

Rosmini College’s Over the Back Fence project continues to push their GLOBAL CONNECTIONS to promote an understanding of cultural differences, languages, and being a global student.

Up to thirteen times a week, Rosmini students connect with classes in two middle schools in Seoul, South Korea. Both schools are keen to enable their student to have a regular weekly video contact with their Kiwi pals, Year 12-13 Rosmini students.

The connection has turned into more than a weekly chat fest and presentation. The Korean students have been also linked with other Over the Back Fence connections, and as a result have visited with students in the Cook Islands, Australia, India and several Kiwi schools in Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Taranaki.

The Korean connection is a supplementary activity for the VLN-P’s ALLis programme. The ALLis Korean class is taught by Rebekah Lim. Rebekah is able to use the Korean international students attending Rosmini to enhance her on-line students Korean language skills, and at the same time help our students improve their English language skills.

Any school, class, interested to join one or more of these connections to a class in South Korea, please contact Geoff Wood at gwood@rosmini.school.nz

We are very interested in providing a connection for either a one-off visit or a regular weekly meeting schedule. Please respond with preferred connection day(s) and time(s). Remember South Korea is four hour behind NZ (DS) time.
