Well done Roisin Dyer from Halfmoon Bay School! by Kath Johnson

Celebrating student success

Congratulations to the 58 students who were chosen by their eteachers at the end of last year for special awards for their excellence in learning and contributing to their online classes.

Well done to Roisin Dyer from Halfmoon Bay School, Stewart Island, whose name was drawn from these 58 special awards and who won a Chromebook.

Every year we recognise our students participation and achievement by sending out certificates, so it was good to be able to give a special award to one of our students.

We will be seeking sponsorship to make awards available again in 2019 and beyond

Congratulations to two of our students who have excelled in their achievement in Asian languages. To Cherise Armstrong-Tuiavii from Mangere Central School who participated in the Korean Education Centre speech competition, and Katherine Bayer who participated in YCT - Youth Chinese Test Confucius Institute.

It is great to see our students doing well in their chosen area of study and aspiring to take their learning further.

I would also like to give special recognition to the awesome young men at Rosmini College who have shown leadership, maturity and commitment by working with our students in Over the Back Fence and tutoring Tagalog classes. Thanks to their teacher, Geoff Wood, for his passion and energy in growing and supporting these student centred and led initiatives.
