PLD funding support for teachers

Kōtuitui is pleased to offer funding to support teachers' research, inquiry, collaborative projects, resource development and PLD in online teaching and learning.

Kōtuitui's aim is to build capability in online teaching & learning through networks of expertise. To strengthen our collective expertise, we have a funding pool to enable teachers to pursue professional activities that will support their practice and contribute to our professional network.

Teachers can apply for funding for:

  • release time to undertake inquiry or research,
  • release time to participate in pld,
  • contribution to study fees or resources,
  • to present findings at conference,
  • collaborative projects,
  • development and provision of online pld event or resource,
  • development and sharing of online curricula resources.

The focus of teacher inquiry or research must be relevant to an aspect of teaching and learning online and contribute to a body of knowledge that will inform online teacher practice. Collaborative projects must extend teaching and learning practice and be documented in a case study or with the development of a shared resource.

Successful applicants will be asked to:

  • write a short article highlighting your research, inquiry or collaborative project, which will be published on our Kōtuitui newsletter and website; and/or
  • present your research, inquiry or collaborative project to Kōtuitui teachers through our social platform or in a Kōtuitui webinar or hui; and/or
  • share a resource through the Kōtuitui members resource hub.

Selection criteria consideration will be given to:

  • relevance of study topic & potential impact of findings;
  • identifying a professional challenge and seeking solutions;
  • approaches that are innovative and/or collaborative.

To make your application email your proposal to kōtuitui@vln.school.nz, which:

  • outlines the professional focus of your proposal,
  • explains why you have chosen this focus and why you think it is important,
  • describes the intended outcome of contribution eg. article, shared resource, workshop, journal paper,
  • and explains how this may be useful for other teachers or the educational sector.
  • Include a budget that outlines the funding you are requesting and how it will be spent.
In a nutshell, tell us what you would like to do and why, who you want to do it with and how you will share back. We look forward to hearing from you!

Teachers who work full time in a school and are requesting release time, will have these funds can be paid directly to the school as Teacher Release Days.

Applicants can apply for up to $1500. Applications are open throughout the year and decided on by the Kōtuitui Lead Teacher group at their monthly meetings.
