Update from our amazing PTA!
⭐️ The Waihi Beach School PTA has been hard at work raising much-needed funds for the kura, and we are stoked to have reached the following milestones in 2024! ⭐️
Update from the Waihi Beach School PTA
🎶 🎙️ A brand new $12,000 sound system was purchased for The Cove earlier this year (replacing the 10+ year old system). This now provides high-quality sound in The Cove for assemblies, tamariki workshops, special occasions and of course our epic school discos!
🧁 $3,356 was used for a new dishwasher, oven and dryer to support our amazing school staff, and enabling our kaiako to spend more time with our kids (instead of dealing with old equipment).
😎 PTA members assisted in submitting a successful funding application to cover half the cost of the brand-new shade sail ($3,500), which now shades the water play area in the new playground. It’s been so great to have this installed before summer!
📚️ $7,000 was spent to supply awesome rotating book stands in each classroom - which has kept our valuable collection of school library books in circulation (while the library is utilised for classroom space).
🎨 We purchased new math games and art supplies (as requested by the teachers) totalling around $4,000 for use in classrooms.
It’s been a busy year of planning and putting on School Discos, product fundraisers, funding applications, and catering the School Centenary events - and we are looking forward to our biggest and best event of the year, The Colour Run on Friday 22 Nov! We can’t wait to supply the school with much needed house colour t-shirts for use at sporting and cultural events, and when tamariki are out and about representing the school in the community.
A huge thank you to our sponsors, whānau, and wider school community for your support with PTA events and fundraisers - as you can see above, it makes a huge impact for our kura and opportunities for our tamariki.
JOIN THE PTA IN 2025
We would LOVE to welcome any whanau who want to join the PTA (we meet once a term, and there is wine!) or who are willing to help out with our upcoming events and fundraisers. Sadly we are losing some of our key members in 24/25 due to their kids heading off to college, and we have very little representation from junior school whānau. Extra hands and heads are really needed to keep the PTA going, and greatly appreciated - so even if you can assist in a small way, we’d love to hear from you.
We are starting to plan for 2025 now so throw us your ideas - what events and fundraisers would YOU like to see?!
Please email ptapresident@waihibeach.school.nz or let Kim know in the office that you are keen!
