Community Conversations Survey
This is your opportunity to ensure that key issues are prioritised in our community. As a school, we have a third of the population of Waihī Beach, but so far our school only has 26 respondents so far - Please complete the survey to have your say!
We support all of the key areas in the consultation, make sure you have your say - www.surveymonkey.com/r/Z9J3T2M
All survey respondents go in the draw to win a Stand Up Paddleboard, or one of 5 x $50 vouchers to spend at a local Waihī Beach business.
As a kura, our main issue would be Safer Streets, as the current and long term infrastructure for our tamariki and whānau is inadequate for our needs. We want our tamariki to be able to walk, cycle, scooter safely to and from school, and around their local community. This is not able to happen due to the unfinished and inadequate pathways throughout our town, especially to key areas and spaces that our tamariki and whānau regularly need to access.
The proximity of our residential and community hubs make Waihi Beach unique and compliments the recreational lifestyles of community members through ease of use for young and elderly.
To keep pace with a changing community dynamic and retain the integrity (OR maximise the potential) of the Waihī Beach lifestyle, the infrastructure needs to be improved and urbanised to be effective in facilitating pedestrian access into our community hubs.
The need for kerbing, bus stops, safe pedestrian crossings, upgraded/maintained footpaths, lighting, utilities and the addition of cycleways are important to keep our largely social and recreational community connected.
Addressing missing and unfinished infrastructure council projects such as Ralph Lane walkway, Savage Avenue, Dillion Street bridge and a pedestrian crossing on Wilson Road, would go a long way to ensuring that our community is thriving in a connected and active way.
