New boarders for 2025

Jacqueline Smith —

We have had a number of senior students join our boarding community this year. Introducing Holli MacDonald.

Who are you and where are you from?

My name is Holli. I am a year 13 student from Gisborne, and this is my first year at Waikato Dio and my first year as a boarder.

Why boarding at Dio?

I have always wanted to go to boarding school and with being a competitive swimmer, I wanted to move to a larger area with more opportunities for sport and education. Waikato Dio impressed our family with everything it had to offer.

If you could choose ONE superpower, what would it be and why?

If I could have one superpower, I would choose Teleportation. I think it would be cool to teleport to another location, like a tropical holiday or a shopping centre, in an instant.

What is ONE thing you have enjoyed about being here at Dio and/or Dio boarding?

My first term has been really enjoyable, and I have made some great friends at school and in boarding. I love boarding life and being independent, and I am looking forward to the rest of the year.
