WDSG Boarding Kaitiaki 2024

Jacqueline Smith —

This exciting role developed within our boarding environment is another opportunity for our boarders to demonstrate their leadership skills.

Boarding Kaitiaki work alongside our house parents, Heads of House and their peers, to ensure boarding is a clean, happy and positive environment in which to live. Their service also teach them skills that will develop their character, and will also allow them to experience the joy of giving service.

Leadership is not always easy, and house parents work alongside our Boarding Kaitiaki. The following are some of the leadership responsibilities of our Boarding Kaitiaki:

  • Assist your Heads of House and House parent (and other boarding staff) with daily wake up/room checks, weekly tidy up, and end of term organisation and clean if needed.

  • Assist with the dorm duty roster.

  • Meet regularly with your Heads of House and House parents to discuss ways the year group can improve in this area, organise activities or events.

  • Provide feedback from the girls within the House about the ways to improve what the House is doing, as well as the things we are doing well

  • Assist in organising and running outings and events within the Boarding House.
