If you are an enthusiastic and organised individual who is confident in motivating others to achieve set goals and success, we would like to hear from you.

Preferred skills

  • Confident leader
  • Great interpersonal skills with rangatahi
  • Excellent tactical and technical understanding of the sporting code
  • Pro-active communication skills

Key responsibilities

  • Build rapport and trust with athletes
  • Prepare athletes for success in the secondary school sports programme
  • Work alongside the sports department in supporting student-athletes in managing their school, sports and life commitments.

Successful applicants will be required to coach and attend tournaments and games; therefore, flexibility in hours is required, and the roles may require weekend work. While the ideal candidate will have coaching experience, the key focus is on the philosophy around coaching secondary school girls, which balances a performance-based programme in pursuit of excellence with the interests of the students at heart. We want coaches who can engage with students, building rapport and trust. Recognising students’ academic demands and long-term and holistic development are essential to these coaching roles.

If you would like to be part of the special culture of the school and give back to the school community, please get in touch with Beth McAvoy (Sports Coordinator) at Waikato Diocesan School for Girls, Private Bag 3051, Hamilton 3240 or email: bmcavoy@wdsg.school.nz Expressions will close no later than 26 February 2023.

*Please note: all our coaches are subject to police vetting.
